"How to choose a good laptop battery" is a problem concerned by more and more people especially those whose original laptop battery can't last longer than before. 

Generally, the quality of a laptop battery is primarily determined by a lot of factors, among which, the important ones are the capacity of the cells, materials, and service life.

Capacity

The capacity, or power rating is a very  important factor when considering a new battery for your laptop. This is the amount of power that the battery can produce, and is usually written in milliamperes (mAh). The greater the capacity is, the longer the battery can work your laptop before it needs to be recharged.So we should consider the high capacity batteries than the low ones at most situations. Of course, the higher capacity batteries are expensive than the lower ones.

Materials

The second factor we should also take into consideration is the material that the battery is made out of: Nickel Cadmium (NiCad), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), Lithium Ion (LiON), or Lithium Ion Polymers (Li-Poly). NiCad batteries are mostly obsolete because they are very heavy and can't last very long. Though NiMH batteries last longer than NiCads, significantly shorter than LiONs and Li-Polys. They also weigh more, and have the "memory effect," which causes them to lose the ability to fully recharge.

 In conclusion, Li-ion and Li-Poly batteries are the best choice for us if they are compatible with our laptop.Moreover, they can be fully charged  more quickly as well as more environmentally friendly.

Service life

 Like other technological products, laptop batteries have a designated service life — the length of time that they're expected to work optimally. This is usually written in terms of cycles, with one cycle consisting of completely running the battery out, and then completely charging it again. Most are are able to go through between 300 and 1,500 charging cycles, and can be used after the maximum cycle count is reached, but may not hold a charge as well.
