4 common problems of laptop battery
There are various kinds of problems a laptop owner may encounter when they use their laptops over time. Here are listed 4 detailed common problems that you may meet during the process of using your laptop.
1. Overheating
A little bit of heat produced by a laptop battery is completely normal,
and laptop batteries are often warm to the touch while in use. However,
sometimes batteries can get very hot and become uncomfortably hot to
touch. Some batteries have been known to even overheat, causing the
computer to shut off, or in the worst case scenario, catch fire. There
are no home solutions to overheating batteries, and usually a new
battery is required. So in order to extend the ife of your laptop, you had better not to exposure a rechargeable laptop batttery to a estreme hot condition.
2. The Memory Effect
The "memory effect" is a phrase used to describe something that happens
to all rechargeable batteries over time, although some more than others.
Essentially, when a battery is not completely drained before it
receives another full charge, the battery can be "tricked" into thinking
it has a shorter battery life than it does. This shortens the overall
time that a laptop can run on one battery charge. A battery can be fully
charged and fully drained in four to five cycles to help reset a
battery and remove some of this memory effect. If cycling through full
to empty on a battery doesn’t remove the memory effect, it is likely
time to purchase a new battery.
3.Slow or No Charge
If the battery is not charging when it is plugged in, be sure the
battery is installed properly. Check that the outlet the laptop is
plugged into is completely functional. If the battery will still not
charge, it may be a case of a dead battery. After many charges,
batteries can begin to charge very slowly, or sometimes charge at all.
This is where a replacement battery is necessary. If your newly purchased li-ion laptop battery can't be charged, you should check the compatibility and clean the contacts.
4.Sudden Shut Down
If a computer is suddenly shutting down, this can be quite annoying, as
well as difficult to diagnose, because it can be caused by different
things. If a laptop shuts down frequently, the user should look to see
if the battery meter says it is holding a charge and whether the battery
is inserted properly. If the issue persists, contacting the
manufacturer is the next step. If properly charging and fully draining a
battery, and checking that it is inserted properly does not fix the
issue, a new battery is like necessary.
